The much-anticipated “Law and the City Star Tour” made its only Southeast Asian stop at the iconic entrance of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on August 10, drawing a massive crowd of more than 20,000 fans who came to witness the star-studded red carpet event.

Organized by CJ ENM Hong Kong and tvN, with support from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Astro — a  leading destination for Korean content in Malaysia— as media partner, and Pavilion KL and DADI Cinema as venue partners, the event marked the first time the on-screen couple appeared in Malaysia for a drama promotional tour.

The evening saw leading cast members Lee Jong-suk and Moon Ga-young charm audiences with warm greetings, pausing several times along the red carpet to interact with fans. Adding to the excitement, the duo joined a fun “chemistry game” with two lucky fans, heightening anticipation ahead of the exclusive finale screening.

A total of 260 fans and invited guests were able to attend the finale screening. Tickets were snapped up quickly — Astro’s in-app giveaway received more than 1,000 entries, while tvN Asia’s social media posts generated over 5,000 engagements in just 24 hours. The overwhelming response reflected the immense popularity of the hit Korean legal romance drama.

“Law and the City” consistently ranked as the No. 1 international drama on Astro. Following the success of the star tour, it also climbed into the Top 10 of all TV programs on Astro and recorded a significant increase in catch-up viewing via Astro GO, further cementing its status as a fan favorite in Malaysia.

During the press conference, which drew over 30 media outlets from Malaysia and Singapore, the two stars expressed their gratitude to fans.

Lee Jong-suk said, “The warmth from the fans has been incredible. I’m so grateful for this moment. I truly enjoyed my time with everyone and will be leaving with wonderful memories.”

Moon Ga-young echoed his sentiments, saying, “I was truly overwhelmed by the fans at the red carpet — it’s been a while since I felt nervous for an event. The warm welcome here has been unforgettable.”

Produced by CJ ENM, “Law and the City” portrays the everyday lives of associate lawyers in Seocho-dong’s bustling legal town. The drama follows Ahn Ju-hyeong (Lee Jong-suk), a ninth-year associate, and Kang Hui-ji (Moon Ga-young), a newly appointed lawyer, as they handle complex cases while navigating workplace challenges. Their relationship unfolds through present-day struggles and flashbacks, including scenes set in Hong Kong, where they first met. Filming took place at notable locations such as Victoria Harbour, Central, the “ding ding” tram, West Kowloon Art Park, and Chung Ching Street ArtLane.
