City Hunter starts airing on Lunar New Year

Today we are celebrating the first day of the Lunar New Year or the Year of the Water Dragon and what a better way to start it than by watching one of Korea’s top 2011 dramas, City Hunter.

I wrote last year my reservations about the drama since they said that there would be deviations from the original storyline, which is based on a Japanese manga. However, after watching the series, I thought, well, it didn’t matter that there are changes in the storyline since it served like a prequel to the City Hunter series. Besides, Lee Min Ho is so good during the action scenes that you can’t help but let your jaw drop while watching. I also love that his leading lady here, played by Park Min Young, is not the rescuing type of woman. I mean, she beat his ass in some of the scenes when he was pretending to be not-so-knowledgeable in the martial arts.

The Korean storyline goes like this. Lee Min Ho is Johnny Lee who was tasked by his adoptive father to take revenge towards five people who are responsible for the death of his father and 28 other South Korean soldiers after a mission in North Korea. Working towards the goal, he meets Kim Nana who is a Blue House agent and consequently, always gets in the way whenever he executes his plans for revenge. Of course, despite all these, they still fall in love. *swoons*

Okay, enough of the spazzing. City Hunter will start airing tonight during ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida, after PBB Unlinight (which would be around 10:30?) If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, here it is!

[NEWS] Lee Min Ho has a new leading lady

Lee Min Ho confirmed playing the lead role Kang Jin in the Korean remake of the famous Japanese manga/anime City Hunter months ago. However, the lead actress was still not finalized until now. So who’s the lucky girl?

It’s no other than Park Min Young who became famous for her role as the scholar Kim Yoon Shik/Hee in the history-fusion drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Min Young’s character is named Kim Nana who is a Blue House (Korea’s Presidential residence) bodyguard.

According to what I’ve read in some sites, it seems like the remake will have a number of differences from the original storyline. In the original version, the lead character is a sleazy private detective named Ryo Saeba who often chooses pretty young ladies as his client. His womanizing activities often gains him a black eye either from his clients or from his assistant Kaori Makimura who is secretly in love with him. Kaori is the younger sister of Ryo’s original partner in City Hunter Hideyuki Makimura who asked Ryo to take care of his sister before he died.

Given the initial differences in the portrayal of the lead characters (they said that Kang Jin is an MIT graduate working for the international communications network team and not someone with a shady past), we could expect more deviations on the storyline itself. I wonder how the original fans of City Hunter feels about this.

Anyway, I do hope they would still keep the womanizing, sleazy character of Kang Jin. It would be interesting to see Lee Min Ho act this one out since he’s one of the best young actors out there.

Whew! I’ve been hibernating for months to attend to pressing things but now I’m back, bearing exciting news for Boys Over Flowers fans out there. Yay!

Last week I learned about a proposed fan meeting for Lee Min Ho on August 1. Right now it is still on its planning stage, which means it may or may not push through. However, there is an online survey being conducted just so the organizers would know how many are planning to attend. Of course, I won’t pass a chance to see my beloved Jun Pyo so I immediately signed up for the event.

For those who are raring to meet Min Ho in the flesh, you may sign up here. By the way, don’t forget to save up because a ticket for the fan meeting costs P3,500 although they’re not for sale yet. Other details are still being ironed out.

Meanwhile, if you’re more into the reclusive Ji Hoo a.k.a. Kim Hyun Joong, here’s good news for you. Hyun Joong will be performing in a concert with another K-pop boyband B2ST. I wonder why the rest of the SS501 guys won’t be with him. Hmmm…

The concert will be held on June 19, 2010 at 8pm at the Araneta Coliseum. Ticket prices go as low as P784 and as high as P7,840. Check out the poster.

Lee Min Ho chooses his next drama project

After a year of filming CFs and doing photoshoots for magazines, Lee Min Ho, more popularly known as Gu Jun Pyo from Boys Over Flowers, has chosen his next acting project entitled Personal Taste.

In the story, Min Ho is Jeon Jin Ho, a man who pretends to be gay to become a room mate of the woman he likes. Apparently, she only likes homosexual guys. His character is said to be organized and a neat freak. Now, that’s a far cry from the strong and mighty Jun Pyo that Min Ho effectively portrayed last year.

This drama was rumored months ago to be the comeback project of the Goong/Princess Hours couple Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon. However, the plans did not push through and the project was put into the back burner. With Lee Min Ho now acting as the male lead, there are now questions as to who will be his leading lady. This drama will start filming on February and will be released on April.

It’s here..finally!

I’ve been holding myself from blogging about Lee Min Ho and Sandara Park’s Cass Beer CF until the actual commercial was out just because I didn’t want to make a big deal out of the reported hundred kisses or so they did yada yada. Okay, I was a tad jealous.

But looking at how awkward the kisses were, I think fangirls of Min Ho can hold their horses for now. I actually like Sandara but I don’t think the sexy woman image fits her that well. Min Ho looks adorkable as usual.

What’s Up With Lee Min Ho?

And I’m back. Yay!

The past three weeks have been grueling for me but enough about that. There’s so much to write about but what better way to start blogging again than to write about my beloved flower boy Lee Min Ho. Honestly, I’m starting to get tired of seeing him on CFs because I need my drama fix now and I’m still contemplating on whether I’m going to watch Boys Over Flowers again, for the nth time. I want to move forward to better things and better dramas I hope. So what’s up with my guy?

First off, Lee Min Ho just released a photo book entitled “Travel With Minho.” It contains photos of Min Ho in some beautiful locations while shooting scenes from his dramas, films and CFs I suppose. It’s being peddled as a travel sketch since Min Ho took some time from his break to write to his fans. I want this so bad but I probably have to wait since it’s only available in Japan and Korea (boo hoo!). For more details about the photo book, check this out.

Next, and I don’t know if I’m supposed to be happy about this bit of news…Min Ho shot another Cass Beer CF, this time with 2NE1′s Sandara Park! Can you believe that? I was hyperventilating when I read that the two were spotted filming in Kangnam, Seoul today. Min Ho apparently likes 2NE1′s song I Don’t Care and he actually listened to it more than 75 times. I like Sandara but I don’t know if I like her enough to let her ride in a red sports car with Min Ho even if it’s just for a CF. Hot guy in a hot car. Now I hate her. Kidding, she’s a sweet girl.

Okay that’s enough cause I might not be able to get a wink of sleep with all this pent up Minoz excitement. Watch out for Min Ho’s photo book and new Cass CF soon.

Lee Min Ho sings for his fans

Lee Min Ho, who played the lovable Goo Jun Pyo in Boys Over Flowers, turns 22 today.

As reported earlier, Min Ho held two fan meetings in Korea for his new official fans club “Minoz.”

He was joined by Kim Hyun Joong (Yoon Ji Hoo) and Kim Joon (Song Woo Bin) with his group T-Max while the rest of his friends from BOF–Kim Bum, Goo Hye Sun and Lee Min Jung gave their congratulatory messages on video.

I wasn’t supposed to write another post about his birthday but I just couldn’t resist the photos and videos of him singing live. I may be biased but you gotta admit that Min Ho did pretty well considering he’s not really a singer. Korean stars are known to be generous to their fans and Min Ho isn’t an exception. In fact, he sang two songs during the fan meeting.

Here he is singing “My Everything” with his eyes closed, haha! I think he’s a bit too self conscious about his singing.

Remember our post about the Korean remake of Meteor Garden’s theme song Qing Fei Dei Yi? Well, Min Ho also sang it during the event.

I can’t get over how completely modest and sincere Min Ho seems to be as described in fan accounts. How can you not love this guy? He’s got a long career ahead of him and I just hope he gets more love along the way without the fame getting into his head.
