Abe Tsuyoshi is married

credits to: japantoday.com
Abe Tsuyoshi who rose to fame as Akira in Hana Yori Dango tied the knot last Sunday with Chinese actress Shi Ke.
They first met in the set of the movie “Stand in Love” in 2006 where they both played key roles. Abe is 26 while Shi Ke is 29.
Because Shi Ke is based in Beijing while Abe is in Japan, the couple opted to having virtual dates instead through the internet.
Abe, who has a Chinese-Japanese heritage, is also known in China as Li Zhendong. His wife will take a break from her acting career to join him in Japan.
Congratulations to the couple!

Nodame Cantabile Lesson 1

I watched Nodame Cantabile because TVXQ’s Shim Changmin said it is his favorite Japanese drama. Yes, my initial reason for watching it is shallow but I have a lot more reasons why I loved this drama. Despite the over the top acting which is expected for live-action dramas such as this, I can say that everything is very well polished. The choice of music is superb and I learned a lot about classical music. Even though you are not a lover of this type of music, you will, without a choice, learn something about it in a not so boring way. Plus, I loved the fact that whenever the actors play the instruments like the piano or violin, it seemed as if they were really the ones playing. The question crossed my mind a lot of times but I just told myself that whether or not they are the ones playing, it doesn’t matter as long as they look believable.
And even though Chiaki is such a snob, I can’t help but love him here. He is such a talented guy and I admittedly like geniuses. So there… I hope you will enjoy this drama as much as I did.

BOF Premiere on Philippine TV

We’ve received information from an inside source that the mega-hit (and still my current K-drama obsession) Boys Over Flowers will premiere on Philippine TV on May 11 (Monday) on ABS-CBN. And yes, it will be shown on primetime (Woohoo!), which is great since primetime slots are usually reserved for locally produced shows since the production costs are high and TV networks need their ad placements.
As for the time slot, we have yet to confirm this but we’ll keep you posted.

Boys Over Flowers Music Drama

So I know a lot of the fans were disappointed with the so-called Boys Over Flowers Special/Music Drama that was hyped up by Mnet. I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed since I didn’t really expect any major thing to happen. I mean, sooner or later fans (including me) would have to accept that the drama is over. As much as we love our own ships Jundi/Soeul/Jihoo-Jandi, we just have to let them go and move on and make better projects.
Anyway, back to the music drama/video or whatever they call it, Mnet actually decided to make more use of our BOF addiction by cutting the music video into two parts. The first part, which was shown last night was So Yi Jung and Song Woo Bin’s episodes and the two get to sing for each of their part.

Code Blue SP

This special episode of Code Blue was shown early this year after the drama ended sometime in November last year. As much as I wanted to enjoy the drama in itself, I couldn’t help but find parallelisms to Grey’s Anatomy, which I used to really dig. However, I stuck to the drama because a) I missed Yamapi and b) I wanted to see a different genre of Jdorama. I read somewhere that K-dramas are also moving into these types of career-oriented dramas.
Back to Code Blue, the SP’s storyline starts a week after finale left off. We hear Aizawa’s (Yamashita Tomohisa) voice over, which again reminds me of Meredith Grey’s narratives. While showing flashes of an emergency situation, Aizawa’s voice over talks about separation and death, how it is inevitable and sometimes sudden.
